Cibola vs La Cueva 7:00 @ La Cueva
Up five notches from the last coaches poll (now at #5) and seven straight wins, La Cueva has a lot of momentum going into tonight’s game with Cibola.
One of the wins in La Cueva’s streak came at the expense of the Lady Cougars at the Clovis tournament last week, where the Lady Bears looked good from beyond the arc, hitting seven three-pointers. Shooting 82% from the free-throw line compounded Cibola’s problems.
Look for the Lady Bears to play much of the same outside game and keep the action away from Cibola’s powerful post, Korina Chapman.
Cibola’s Amber Battle had the game-high 16 points on the night, but there’s a downside; there were only three other players to score for the Cougars and she fouled out. In addition to needing another big night, Battle needs a lot more help from someone other than Chapman and Elyse Brewster.

The Chaparral girls basketball team beat Hatch Valley 59-54 on Tuesday. Kathy Barto led the Lobos with 17 points and Amanda Concha had 14.
