EP Montwood’s Castillo signs

Congrats to Montwood’s Sarahi Castillo who has signed to play basketball at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, TX.

The Yellow Jackets are led by newly hired coach, Meia Daniels, who took over Joshua Prock (now at Eastern New Mexico.)

HPU is a NCAA DIII school that plays in the American Southwest Conference.

Chapin’s Alvarez to Sul Ross

Congratulations to Samantha Alvarez for signing with Sul Ross State, becoming the fourth Chapin alum to sign to play on the next level.

The 5’0″ point guard will be headed to Alpine Texas to suit up for the Lady Lobos who went 1-24 on the season in 2012-13.

The Lady Lobos are lead by coach Chris Marks, who is rebuilding the program. Marks, in his second year, had found success at his previous head coaching sting at Clarendon College, seeing seven players move on to four-year programs and five players receive All-American honors.

Sul Ross is a NCAA DIII school, participating in the America Southwest Conference.

Mayfield’s Oliver heads west

AudreyOliverAudrey Oliver will be heading to Western to join the Lady Mustangs for the 2013-14 season.

Oliver, a guard, averaged 8 PPG and 6 assists per game earned a spot on the North/South All-Star squad as well as a 1st Team All-District award. She was also a participant of the 2013 Big Time Hoops Showcase.

Quintana signs with NNMC

Lauren QuintanaEspañola Valley’s Lauren Quintana has signed to play for the Northern New Mexico College (NNMC).

A 2012 Big Time Hoops participant, Quintana will be playing for the Lady Eagles in her own backyard. Located in Española, NNMC is a two and four-year degree granting institution that plays in the NAIA conference. The Lady Eagles are coached by Jack Ballard, who lead NNMC to a 8-22 record (0-10) in 2012-13 season.

Chapin’s Ellis signs with UMHB

Jada EllisMore good news to report out of El Paso, as Chapin’s Jada Ellis has signed with the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX.

The ’13 BTH participant averaged 13 PPG and 9 PPG her senior year as a Lady Huskie, earning the District 4A Most Valuable Player award and a spot on the Texas All-Tournament and All-State Teams.

UMHB Crusaders, lead by head coach Lisa Curliss-Taylor and newly hired assistant Caprice Stephens, finished the 2012-13 season with a 8-17 (7-12) record. The Cru participate in the American Southwest Conference, a NCAA Division III school.
